Monica Lewinsky Calls for Impeachment of Judge Overseeing Trump Classified Documents Case

WASHINGTON — Monica Lewinsky expressed her hope for the impeachment of U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who is overseeing former President Donald Trump’s classified documents case.

“I awakened angry about the documents case in Florida. It is INSANE that it hasn’t moved forward to trial, and I hope Judge Cannon is impeached,” Lewinsky posted on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Lewinsky’s comments followed a New York Times report that revealed Cannon had disregarded advice from two “more experienced colleagues” to reassign the classified documents case to another judge. Additionally, Cannon faces criticism for indefinitely delaying the trial, making it unlikely to proceed before the upcoming election.

In her tweets, Lewinsky argued that if taking the classified documents had been an honest mistake, Trump could have returned them, as “every other president who was found to have classified materials in their private possession” has done.

Monica Lewinsky became a prominent figure after former President Bill Clinton admitted to having an affair with her while she was a White House intern in the 1990s.
